Jennifer Kjellgren (that’s pronounced “shell-gren”, by the way) is all about spreading the love. She’s also a RAVING Happy Grasshopper fan & says we fit right in with that. Just ask her. She’ll tell you all about it.
A 13-year veteran of the Real Estate Industry and a team leader for 2 years, Jennifer knows that staying top of mind with her past customers, friends, and folks in her sphere is, as she says, “the name of the game.” She knows they’re the bread and butter of her business and she’s not about to risk them forgetting about her when the time comes for them to buy or sell a home.
We had a few minutes to sit down with Jennifer when we were all in Georgia for RETSO a while back, and she gave us the low-down on how she uses Happy Grasshopper and why (and these are her words, not ours) she loves it so much.

HG: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A HAPPY GRASSHOPPER CUSTOMER?
JK: I started using the service in January of 2012, so about a year and a half now.
HG: WHY DO YOU THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN TOUCH?
JK: I definitely don’t want to sound insincere, but it’s super important to remind people of who you are and what you do. But I think it’s important to stay in touch in a light & meaningful way; I want to do something that’s in-keeping with who I am. Happy Grasshopper fits right in.
HG: HOW MANY NAMES DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HG DATABASE?
JK: About 850, give or take. We are always adding people and remove some occasionally, so that’s just a rough estimate.
HG: WHAT KIND OF OPEN & RESPONSE RATES DO YOU GET?
JK: Well, our open rates are typically around 40%. That’s on average. And I can’t give you an exact number on responses, but I can tell you that it’d be really unusual not to get at least ten responses from a Happy Grasshopper message.
HG: HAVE YOU GOTTEN ANY BUSINESS FROM YOUR HG MESSAGES?
JK: ABSOLUTELY! Right when I started, I got a million-dollar listing, I just got a 16-unit condo listing and all sorts of others. I don’t want to take a chance on those past customers forgetting about me. Oh! And I actually just added a team member who’s using Happy Grasshopper. He’s sent just one message and got three opportunities from it, so he’s just thrilled.
HG: HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANYONE RESPOND NEGATIVELY TO A MESSAGE
JK: NEVER. Not even once. In fact, they’re so in-line with the way my personality is–you know I’m all about spreading the love–that I get email responses and people that post to my Facebook page, THANKING me for the messages and how positive they are. There was one message that went out a while back, actually, that got a bunch of my past customers thinking about things they could implement in their lives or businesses. So it got me thinking that Happy Grasshopper goes beyond keeping in touch, it’s food for thought, too! I just love it.
