How to Filter Your Contacts In Happy Grasshopper

COntact Fliter Guide

Step 1: Go to All Contacts

Navigate to Contacts in the left-hand sidebar. Then click All Contacts to open your full contact database. At the top of the page, you’ll see your contact list along with options to search, filter, and manage contacts.

Step 2: Show Filters

On the left side of the contacts page, you’ll find the Filters panel. If filters are hidden, click Show Filters to open the full filtering menu.

This allows you to narrow down your contact list based on specific criteria so you can quickly find the exact group of people you want.

Step 3: Choose a Filter Category

Happy Grasshopper offers several filter categories that help organize your contacts based on different attributes. Filter sections include:

  • Contact Details
Filter by fields such as first name, last name, email, phone number, birthday, or when the contact was created.
  • Address
Search contacts based on location information such as city, state, postal code, or country.
  • Tags
View contacts that contain specific tags used to organize your database.
  • Status
Filter contacts by subscription status, such as Subscribed or Unsubscribed.
  • Move Score
Sort contacts based on their Move Score ranking.
  • Custom Fields
Filter using any custom data fields you’ve created in your database.
  • Recent Engagements
Find contacts who have recently opened emails, clicked links, or unsubscribed.

Step 4: Apply Your Filters

Once you choose a filter category, select the criteria you want and click Apply Filter.

The contact list will instantly update to show only contacts that match your selected filters.

You’ll also see the active filters listed at the top of the page so you can easily track what’s currently applied.

Step 5: Adjust or Clear Filters

If you want to change your results, you can:

  • Remove a specific filter by clicking the X next to it
  • Click Clear Filter to remove all active filters and return to your full contact list

This makes it easy to experiment with different filter combinations until you find exactly the contacts you need.

Why Filters Are Useful

If you want to change your results, you can:

  • Contacts in a certain city
  • Subscribers with a specific tag
  • Leads who recently engaged with your emails
  • Contacts within a certain audience group

Filtering makes it easier to organize your database and target the right people when preparing messages or campaigns.
