Contact Merging

Over time, most databases accumulate duplicate contacts, the same person entered twice with slightly different information. Until now, resolving this required manual workarounds or external tools. Contact Merge brings this capability natively into the app, giving you full control over which data to keep.

  • Find your duplicates
Navigate to Contact Merging and click Find Duplicates. Happy Grasshopper automatically scans your database and surfaces groups of contacts that appear to be the same person.
  • Review each group
Each duplicate group shows you the contacts side-by-side — Main Contact vs. Duplicate. You'll see all key fields: name, email, phone, birth date, gender, audience, and address.
  • Choose which data to keep
Select field-by-field which version of the data you want in the merged contact. The radio buttons let you pick from the main contact or the duplicate for each field individually.
  • Merge or keep main only
Click Merge Contacts to combine the records using your selected fields, or Keep Main Only to discard the duplicate entirely and retain the main contact as-is.

What you can merge:

  • First & last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Birth date
  • Gender
  • Audience

Key behaviors:

  • Duplicates are detected automatically
  • You control which fields survive the merge
  • "Keep Main Only" is a one-click option
  • Ignored groups stay in the queue
  • Works across contacts with partial overlaps, not just exact duplicates
